Programs & Training Schedule
There are different competitive levels of artistic former synchronized swimming. New swimmers typically begin at the Novice or Intermediate level, depending upon their age and swimming ability.

NOVICE
FIRST YEAR OF SYNCHRO, NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE
​
Program runs September to June. It is 2 hours class, twice per week.
​

Any age

60 min dry land (condition/stretching, gymnastics, choreography)

60 min water (speed swimming, drills, synchro strokes, figures, routines)
-
Novice level doesn't have requirement of intense competition.

Learn basic skills
-
Sculls (torpedo, support, alligator sculls)

Eggbeater
-
Strokes (backstrokes, sidestrokes)

Learn components of synchro
- Novice Figures​
- Solo, duet, trio, team routines

Eligible Competitions Association meet late April, beginning of May

Perform in the BSS Annual Water Show
INTERMEDIATES
MORE THAN 1 YR OF EXPERIENCE

Program runs September to June. Practices meet 2-3x/week. Individual squads are formed by age. Coach determines when novice will advance to Intermediates.

Fall-continue to improve basic skills

Develop more advance skills (increased difficulty in figures)

Winter-combine those skills into more complex routines

Spring-eligible competitions
- Attend local competitions​
- Can qualify to attend regional and zone competitions

Perform in the BSS Synchro Annual Water Show

AGE GROUP SKILL LEVEL
Program runs September to July. Practices for ages 12 & under meet 4x/week. For age 13 & older, meet 4-5x/week. Age Group team is for athletes who have moderate to significant prior synchro experience.
